got a 6.0 how sad
 

hey guys tell me what i should do to get better mileage and less turbo lag: target vehicle, 2007 FORD PWSK, 6.0, 97K MILES, 9MPGS, LARIAT CREW CAB, 4X4, SHORT BED W/ 35 INCH TIRE AND NO LIFT. (NO THEY DONT RUB). my plans, at least for mileage: straight pipe, either bully dog or sct. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

SCT is a better tuner for the PSD so that's what i'd go with, EGR block off, Both air intakes and a reasonable foot and you should do way better than 9, you should do better than 9 anyhow, try changing all the fluids, Oil, Tranny, Gear, transfer case, and Fuel Filter too, all those can hurt fuel economy if not in good shape or really dirty

When was the last time air and fuel filters were changed. 9 mpg is not even close to the truck running right. I have to hook up my 13,300lbs 5th wheel RV to get my truck down to 9.5mpg

Keep in mind that your odometer is off by about 10% since you have larger than stock tires. So if your odometer reads 400 miles you've really covered about 445 miles if you haven't recalibrated the Speedometer/odometer.

SCT hands down. EGT Block Off. 4" or 5" Turbo Back Exhaust.

thanks for the help guys. all the fluids are current, we have a really kicka&* service department for our personal business vehicles and machines and we also change fluids sooner than scheduled service intervals should be. makes your machinery last you many many many more miles than changing them when the book says. and we use additives like lucas in anything applicable. where do you get the sct and how do the custom tunes work? do i have to drive the truck to bfe to get it done, well, actually i am in bfe so do i have to come to sivilization to have it done or can you order it somehow. And i also dont even go by the odometer. i use a gps system to tell me how many miles i have gone. those are supposed to accurate up to + or - 1000 feet of actual travel distance. i like everything else about the ford except the engine, but like i said, i made a big change. my 94 dodge had all the power i ever needed, not to mention the mileage and agility for the off road back 40 kind of work i do. the ford in my opinion has a much more comfortable suspension and passenger cabin than even the newer dodges do. i have always fantasized about taking the 5.9 and putting it in the ford hull, but thats a lot of work and not to mention the warranty and other things that wont work if it could even be done. i also have 98 year model 12 valve engine if anyone needs one though. prices on those things are pretty high huh? at least the ones i can find for sale anyways.

As stated go with the SCT with Custom tunes. I have Eric over at Innovative Diesel do my personal tunes as well as for my customers. A cold air intake and a exhaust are always beneficial.

I really like my 6.0, I have a 2005 with 107k on the clock. Nothing major, just the SCT, CIA and straight piped exhaust. I recently sprang a oil leak on the seals at the HPOP. Injectors are going in this weekend as on cold start ups it is sluggish and likes to puff blue smoke. Mileage is horrible at 10mpg but I am willing to bet the injectors are the cause of this, I guess I'll found out after we do them.
