You don't need a jack if you know how to hook up a plow. Just hook up the chain first and pick the plow up a little bit, it makes lining up and installing the pins easy. I've never used a floor jack on my myers straight blade.

I second that, MONSTERPLOW. I was talking about this recently with a coworker of mine who would not have known the difference because I don't think he's ever owned a plow truck and he said the same thing as dieseldocter16. I pretty much said what you said...Drivers break trucks, not plows. I've been through enough of lake effect here in Buffalo and have not Tore the S**t out of my truck. I have WORN parts but not broke them. When you plow with the truck YOU pay for, you take care of it. Enough said.

I've done exactly as tiremann9669 said...drive up to plow and attach chain to the lift arm. I don't use a jack either. When the plow is off the truck, I do have the A frame sitting on old 2x4's and a 4x4 screwed together to hold it close to where it needs to be to insert the pins.

5150 hit it right on the head......its amazing that the trucks the hired guys use get tore up, wore out and the like....and im still pushing the ol 94 with a 9'2" vee and 3000 lbs of salt on the back.............now i also second .............replacing worn out parts and occasional broken things is the nature of this business..............but it seems to be much less when your writing the checks for repair verses a phone call with "hey boss, somethings wrong with the truck"

keep pushing people thats what they were made to do!!!!!....

I posted this last season but its still a good flic....its me plowing a storage unit ...same truck i added a few lights to her but shes still just a pushin......i almost bust my fat *** at the end of it

enjoy

I had a Sno-Way on a 92 F-150 Std. Cab 8' bed Straight 6 5-speed and I plowed on a crew that did some malls. I always got stuck doing the sidewalks 'cause mine had down pressure and it seemed to work really well for that. I did get some lot time and I think I liked that a lot better. I traded that truck in on my current truck and I just put a plow on 2 years ago. I haven't done a lot of plowing with it yet but what I have done has been a blast! this thing pushes like a dozer!

i have a meyers 8ft. straight blade on my 99 and love it. got the meyers e-60 pump on it and its been on for 6 years last year i had to put a new o ring in the bottom of the hoist cause it was leaking off. knock on wood no other problems. i had a 7 1/2 on it before and with my 33's and the blade angled either way my tires stuck out past the plow and bit me in the *** a few times. i really didnt get to push much with my 8ft. 2 years ago here in central pa we got drilled several times with snow. the ole 7 1/2 got her work out and loved it. i wanna plow with a vee blade sometime to see the difference

I have a Western contractor series with ultramount on a 2001 24valve. yes it is a fair amount of maintence to keep the truck up, a lot of washing, greasing, spraying the undercarrige with a drainoil- diesel mix. Some how I do end up with a 5 digit profit in the end.My route isn't real big,23 customers,a mix of residental, commercial, contract & by the time, will keep on for a couple more years then maybe stop.

I'll grab some in the morning, think he is asking 13,500. Just installed a fass ddrp and rebuilt most of the front end for the customer. All new fluids all the way around.
