Vacuum and Power steering pumps

Hi everyone, Im in the process of putting a 1994 12v Cummins in my 1997 F250 that previously had a 7.3 Powerstroke. The cummins was out of a school bus so I had to take the air pump off of it and I put in a vacuum pump and power steering pump for a "dodge" cummins. everything went in with ease, now I just need to know where I need to hook up lines for the powersteering and brakes. If anyone could tell me or put up some pics of where to hook them up that would be great. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

hose from the vacum pump goes to the brake booster, the power steering output will go to your steering box and the drain line from the powersteering box goes back to the return on the pump resevior, does your truck have a vacuum booster? i thought the 7.3s used a hydraulic booster. can you post pics of what you have? i cant belive theres 90 views on this and no one replied...

My 94 has vacuum booster on it, havent had the chance fo finish my engine yet, i hope to have it done next month. But let us know what you use, i will be doing the same thing in the next couple of months.

Hey Prowler, I'll take that compressor off your hands if you want to get rid of it... PM me if you do.

Thanks everyone, ill take some pics tomorrow and post them. It'd be so much easier if the new pumps had lines on them already but theres like 5 holes on the power steering pump and I have no clue what hole is for what. I'm not sure if it has hydro or vacuum at the moment. For this part of the project I'm kinda just going off what Ford Cummins has been telling me. Thanks again everyone for the info I've been waiting forever for some replies. I'll get some pics up tomorrow night.

I looked around on the internet and it looks to me like it does have a hydro booster. Unfortunately I dont really have any knowledge in brakes and power steering. Most of my knowledge is in drivetrain: engine, tranny, etc. Can any of you guys tell me what this means? Will I still be able to use the vacuum pump?

it means your brake booster uses power steering pump pressure to aid in braking instead of vacuum, you can either get a vacuum style booster from a gas truck and use the dodge vacuum pump, or do the hydroboost. with a hydro boost brake set up, the basic set up will be a normal pressure line from the pump to the steering box as you would have on any other truck, then a drain from the steering box to back to the pump, then a secondary pressure line from the pump to the brake booster and a return.

it may just be set up where the pressure line from the pump runs to the booster, then out of the booster to the steering box in a series, that way you dont need a differnt pump.

Ill do some work on it this weekend and give u an update. I'm in college so I only get to work in it on the weekends unfortunately.

Hmmm that diagram is interesting. Would I even need to hook up the vacuum pump to anything with that set up?
