to get the ball rolling need to know if it is manual or auto if you are going auto get a 47rh for manual get a nv4500 no electronics to mess with trans cases the nv4500 takes a 29 spline don't remember what the auto is 23?? get make sure you use a 241-243 dhd or 271-273

i vote save up and buy a 2500 or 3500 EXPESSIALLY since you stated its a farm truck. the 1500 chassis ISNT up to snuff to hold the cummins for an extendid period of time. there will be bunches of frame modifications needed. the rear end WILL not hold the torque nor will the front. the front suspension isnt strong enough to hold the weight of the diesel. ect ect.
this project can be done and has been done. but not on the cheap and sure as hell not for a work truck pullin farm implements around

my $.02 dont do it

missed the 2500 part. and you can do all of these things. i think the gas 360's are 46re's ??? may be wrong there. a manual tranny swap can be put together cheaper but plan on $3000 ish to go nv4500 $2000ish for the 6bt so just those no extras your looking at $5000 you can buy a whole new truck for that. thats what im getting at.

Well I guess I could stick with the auto cuz I'm sure its the one your talkin about. How hard is it to switch electronics?

the auto for the gasser will not hold up to the diesel unless it is the v10 gasser which its not then the gov speeds are different. if you did it you would most likely want to do a 1st or 2nd gen 12v swap so the eletronics would be non existant or very few of them. dont know how it will effect your dash???
