7,3 powerstroke in a 1980 oldsmobile cutlass cruiser

hi there
i have a 1980 olds cutlass cruiser wagon, i want to have a 7,3 powerstroke engine in this car, so i hope somebody can answear me on some of my question.

1 is the 7,3 much wider and bigger than a chevrolet 6,2 and 6,5?
2 is the 7,3 much more havy then a 6,2 or 6,5?
3 is there anybody that knows about somone that have done this in a midsize or fullsize wagon?

1: Yes - slightly bigger than a Ford 460
2: Yes - about 1000# dressed up.
3: No... did see a duramax in some muscle car in a magazine. Thankfully they have aluminum heads to save weight.

I've had 6.2L diesels, 7.3L powerstrokes, and worked on a number of Ford IDIs.

Would probably do a mechanical 6.5 turbo in that car.

I'm lazy a powerstroke just sounds like a wiring headache to me.A gm 6.2 or 6.5 will bolt right in very easy to wire and have running.I have seen a 12 valve cummins thrown in a g body el camino before it can be done also. But any diesel i would find some heavier front springs for it and to lose some weight the factory cutlass diesel cars had a alum hood if you can find one grab it.Easy way to tell if the hoods alum try sticking a magnet to it it won't stick on alum.

i agree, but if you get a donor rig, it would be much easier. that thing weighs quite a bit , you should consider one of the 4 bangers around. you wouldnt think 300-400 pounds would matter but, it will
