How to convert my 2000 gmc sierra 1500, to a 12 valve cummins

Hey everyone, i am new to this site. i am a previous diesel owner. i had a 1995 chevy 6.5 that i loved. I bought a 2000 gmc sierra 4x4 ext cab for 1700 bucks, i bought it with 200k on it and i have done alot of mods to it, its lifted 5.5 inches, and had 35s, but the motor and trans are junk. So for my college senior year project i want to convert it to a 12 valve cummins. i was wondering what i need and how hard it would be to complete. i want to maintain a stock look on the inside of the truck, the push button 4x4 engage stuff, same linkage for the trans. I was thinkin about using a built up 4l80e. with some king of plate to mount them together. so any feed back would be appreciated. thanks

ya if u want to rip all the other stuff out i know u can swap a allison under there an get a stand alone comp for it to run right then put the cummins in. thats what im trying to deiced on but i already have a allison in my truck but they say i still need the comp for it then deiced if i want the dmax or cummins in it.

a PCS stand alone would cost as much as the stick shift trans tho

i want a standard any ways, they are better for towing, funner, and gets the power down better.

ya ture on that but if your going to do anything else to me a auto is better i have seen ppl put 4l80e behind the cummins or dmaxs but there slightly built to with stand them.

i cant make up my mind what i want to do yet,
