om617 in 2000 s10

hey, I recently swapped an om617/ ax-15/np231 in to my 2000 s10. It runs pretty well but i have a few minor bugs. The first one is getting fuel i have my stock fuel pump wired to the ignition so it is always on when the ignition is on this worked well for about a week but now randomly my truck will loose power and you can have it floored and it'll barely move then stall. I noticed the inline fuel filter is squished together almost like an accordion, could this be possibly cutting off m fuel?

the next problems I have are just minor like hitting pumps makes the security dash light come on and itll make everything flash like it looses power but then good again. The brake are also very crazy now that i got my little over-boost switch put in to kill the motor. the brakes used to work good at all times now they only feel good when the motor is revved up.. could a sall vacuum leak do this?

Moved to the correct section for ya.

Congrats on the swap...seems these diesel S10 conversions are becoming quite popular.

Am I reading your post right, your running the stock s10 electric fuel pump?

I believe the om617 never utilized an electric pump...mechanical lift pump is all that is necessary.

Starting to wonder if your stock s10 pump is limiting your fuel...
Anyone else running an electric pump?

congratulations on you swap I have used electric the thing you have to remember is that the diesel only needs about 7 psi to work it works on volume not psi get a fuel pressure regulator Trans Dapt 2329 Trans-Dapt Performance Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator change fuel filters put this on and try it you can also use the stock one and use the one in the tank for priming it when you change filters

brakes - check your vacuum you can buy a rebuild kit from mercedes source for them

the security light vette74 is real good at that stuff I am sure he will reply he is a s10 god

as for these swaps I am personally doing one vette74 is driving his and redneckvette is in process and now you

We need pictures:jump:

thank you very much for moving this for me :), so I found out that I had a gasoline fuel filter as my inline filter instead of a diesel one:argh: i got that changed.

The security light and everything loosing power is still a mystery, I noticed when you let off the clutch to fast and not enough fuel like before it will stall when its shaky all the lights will start flashing like its not getting enough power.

my truck still seemed to get slugish after the fuel filter changed. But i noticed after I un hooked the over boost ( shut off valve) that the motor runs perfect again and the brakes are well. It alsmost seems that that over boost valve does not fully close so it is slowly letting vaccum it to kill my motor.

Damn, I cant see the picture. SOunds like a helluva project and fun toy to drive around once the bugs are fixed

I cannot see the picture either im not sure why not tho. its a 2000 ext cab s10, dana 44/ ford 9" on 35" thornbirds, front axle pushed forward about 3"

so i tried using the over boost valve to shut off my motor but failed, when i turn the key on i hear the switch click(close) but hooking up a boost gauge to the vacuum that should be going to IP it still pulls vacuum pressure. is there any way that have the solenoid backwards, i had the line from the vacuum going in to the solenoid closes to the little breather cap.

The following was tested on a bench, which appears to be correct :)

electrical connections:
brown is positive +
black is negative -

Vacuum port connections:
Outside port connects the Injection Pump vacuum diaphragm.
Center port connects to a vacuum source.

#6 on the diagram is the stop vacuum hookup go get yourself a big syringe for a hook it up and try to shut it off that way if that works you just need to get it plumbed right

mr manny could you take a picture of the sol for all of us plumbing and the electrical

thanks D
