What adapter for a 0M671 to AX15
did a search and got confused..
What adapter will take me from a om617 to a Jeep AX15 5 speed manual trans?.. while were on it can you use the jeep clutch- flyweel etc? |
there are several on here i am doing a chevy myself check these out compilation of OM617 swap projects
|
no Jeep conversions on that list...
|
The website is OM617 Mercedes Diesel Conversion Jeep Wrangler Cherokee TJ YJ Engine Adapter Swap Yes you use Jeep starter, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate all stock Jeep stuff. Transmission stays in original position in Jeep. :rocking:

that makes it ay too easy:jump::choochoo::c:

Hey Deck60, how close to driving your rig are you?
|
I think,Jeep Aisin-Warner AX15 Transmission is a perfect adapter.Because, this adapter assembly makes for a strong and convenient adaptation of classic. And it's easily and quickly installed onto the AX15.

The 410's did not work out on the interstate turned to many rpm at highway speed. I don't have a tach on it but I can tell it is turning to much. I am going to put a set of 373's in tonight to see what that will do. will keep you informed. vette PS first check on mileage was 33 mpg but will be better on next check with these gears. |
:jump: not bad for mileage

ax15 gear ratio
I'm matting an om 617 with an 2wd ax15 using koch adapters then its going into my 2wd 97 sonoma i was wonder if any one knows what rear axle ratio works well with this trans motor combo. i dont really haul much its just my driver and i would like to be able to cruise on the interstate comfortably. also any reviews on the ax 15 adapters and hows the motortrans combo workin for ya.:humm: thanks
|
373's are working the best for me so far had 342's and 410's in it and like the 373's worked best. (for me)
Deck60 told you wrong tire size 235/55/16 not 215. Looks like I am going to have to pull the trans back out I think my slave cylinder going bad Does not wont to release the clutch right hard to get into gear Vette :rocking::rocking::rocking::scare2::scare2: |

Well I am going to have to relocate the oil filter housing went in the truck fine but can not get to top off. As far as mounts here are some pictures.Do have the best picture of the power steering mount but it is off a 96 trooper and made the brackets. Deck60 is building the same thing as me so from his help and mine ask all the ? you need to.

Nice looking truck! You did a great job, looks factory!
|
thanks vette
thanks for the info the truck looks awesome you really did a nice job and it looks well planned. as for the oilfilter could i just tilt the motor alittle bit more twards the right. also did you have to make a oil pan relocator like heavy foot did. again great job on the truck looks factory.:c:
REDNECKVETTE |
If I had tiled it I would have a little problem with my exhaust not saying you could not work around that, I just wont it to lot right to me (just my way..)
As far has to oil pan I did not do anything to it but it is chose. Vette |
Really nice looking, do you remember what ac compressor number that is or was it from your truck originally? :rocking:
|
It was a sanden aftermarket it is a universe type with fitting pointing up and turned it to the side for more hood room when I turned them up they hit the hood. I will say the A/C will frost the windows!!! I had the line made and charged it up and good to go. Add a picture on next post of the comp.

has anyone rebalanced the flywheel when doing the swap or just runnin it? if so whats the process. also does anyone know if a jeep flywheel is balanced neutraly. thanks REDNECKVETTE
|
According to the Benz factory manual, they say it could possibly be off balance= not neutral. The best thing to do is mark the position of the stock flywheel before you remove it and then check the balance, if it is neutral then you are good to go, if not then match the off- balance with the new one and bolt up in the same position you took the stock one off. Most have found theirs is neutral.
