1937 Dodge Humpback Diesel
Alright guys I got a hell of a project I'm trying here and I'm at a lost for a engine. First I got a 1937 Dodge Humpback Panel truck and this will not take a 5.9 that I just have sitting here so does anyone have information on these newer 3.9 or 4.5 liters that are road worthy? I know they threw some in Case Machinary but I didn't know if those are able to run on the road or not. I know generator motors are not due to they not have the same internals. SO does anyone have any input onthese engines for this swap?

go with the Cummins 3.9BT...................I would just get a reman and go from there

Yea bit I seen some of those things run and seen problems in being unbalanced and loud as shit I been looking into the new ones and they are realisable in price and got the CP3 pumps on they but are rear mounted are there any front mounted ones?

Yank a commonrail 3.9 from a Brazilian F250? :humm:

I found on in a Fedex truck up here they ran them in the order ones and there a junkyard full of them just been trying to find a newer one laying around

All you have to have to get a 5.9 to fit is 36 inches between the fire wall and radiator if you run an electric fan. The electric fan I put on my 6BT IH Scout hardly ever comes on.
I also drive a 4BT in a bread van. I like the engine but it isn't as smooth as the the 6BT. The 4BT is pretty smooth onece it gets a little RPM on it. The thing about the mechanical B series Cummins is it is just a way more durable engine and makes a lot more power than most other engine choices. |
just FYI i have seen a chevy s10 run 9.5sec and put numbers over 800hp with a cummins 4BT and they are esentally the same motor as the 6BT minus 2 cyl:up2:
