05 F250 conversion 12valve advice needed
Guys i am looking for a bit of help here concerning the swap
I Have a 2005 6.0Ldiesel i am trying to swap over to a 96 6BT i bought. I have researched the destroked and fordcummins.com swap peices and i will list them below adapter plate flexplate motor mounts tach kit PCS (trans controller) fan shroud (destroked?) TPS kit Flat faced tq converter I know i also need "ford gas pedal with throttle linkage??" and cruise servo?? any help here with locating these? or advice where to get them think ford said $500+ for servo.. wtf? Also will need to shorten rear shaft, and lengthen front drive shaft Is there anything else i am missing? before i kick start this.. The intent is to have all peices before i start the swap.. so as not to delay it any longer than needed. It seems ALOT have done this before, so looking for some help.. |
Should be able to find the gas pedel and cruise servo from any junk yard pretty cheap. I was also able to use the dodge throttle cable by "squareing" the hole in the firewall to accept the dodge cable. Sounds like you got most things lined up though:tu: As far as the driveshafts, they get pretty pricey when you get custom lengths done. If you use elect. fans you probably can keep em stock length, all depends on what you want, good luck and take lots of pics

I went to the junk yard and got a V10 gas pedal. It mounts to the stock location and there is already a place in the firewall to secure it to.
Worked out perfect! Then I used a Destroked Throttle cable kit |
cable and servo?

I haven't hooked up a Servo yet.. Its on my list of things to do. They are spendy little suckres!
|
v10 or v8 servo, I would say 99-04 for sure, not sure if they changed anything after that. I used cadillac sts dual fans from a salvage yard, they have yet to kick on, even pulling 11k for 35mi. 27 quarts of antifreeze can do alot of cooling!
|
So you did electric fans?? how's that hold up going up grades? and do you have any mods?? im looking to put 90hp injectors and a #6 fuel plate.. i like seeing that black cloud under throttle load! lol
|
Like I said, the fans have yet to kick on, haven't even hit 200F yet, but I'm only pushing 190-200 horse on a VE 12v. The s/d's hold almost twice the coolant of a 1st gen though. I still think you'll be fine with electrics though on a 700ft/lb beast. I drive a Pete with a 435 cat and at 80k my fan only kicks on when pulling extended grades, 8% for over 3 mi.

Sounds like you've done some studying. Heres a little input. You don't need an aftermarket shroud. Use the factory shroud with the cummins fan. Also If you have steering wheel with climate control and radio switches, you will need cruise switch from a 2000 ford explorer "LIMITED" or a 99 Lincoln. They have the correct resistances. you will have to remove airbag. Swap the 2 center pins in the plug that connects to the cruise switch and then cut the black wire that runs across to the radio switches. connect the half that comes from cruise switch to the blue horn button wire, and tape the other half off. I Used the servo for the 2000 explorer which I bought on ebay for 60 dollars used. Another thing about the PCS controller. Check with Jason@fordcummins.com, He has figured out how to keep it working with the factory computer.
