chevy gas swapped for a dmax

i have looked every were for info on if any one that has done something like that. i want to do it on a 00-07 chevy 6.0 or 5.3 2500 or 1500. which truck would be easier to do a 2500 or 1500. an how much will the 4l80e trans last behind a dmax with some mods.

If your asking whether or not it would be easier to do in a 1500 or a 2500 must mean you don't have the truck yet, so therefore, why not just buy a 00-07 dmax?

thats why im trying to find out im over seas right know an i dont know how gas prices are over there. an i like the 1500 bc there lighter but i also like bc they can tow alot but i can buy a gas truck cheaper than a dmax with all the stuff i want alot cheaper than i would do a dmax. an when i up grad to diesel i can rebuild the motor first so it can handel all the stuff i want to put to it. i just want to know if its a so call plug an play were u just put the engine in reprogram the ecu an take off. i know theres other stuff to do just want to know about the engine, an how long it would take to do.

its not just a plug and play swap to go from gas to diesel, you have to worry about motor mounts, intercooler, radiator, all wiring including dash, the 1500's frame would not handle the torque factory so you would have to beef it up, the axles wouldn't live long either. best option if you were dead set on doing this would get a 2500 with an 8.1L in it. they already have the allison, then slap a dmax in there with all related components, the gage cluster will have to be swapped too. as for time, i would guess if you work all day everyday on it, probably 5-6 days to put it in, then months to get all the bugs worked out. and i still find it hard that this swap will be cheaper than finding a dmax and building it the way you want it, lots less of a headache!

ok thanks, now i would know what to do when i get to the states is just look for a good dmax. what yrs would u think would work out ok to make about 500hp with out doing any internal mods,an i know the trains would need to be reworked or so. an if i would want to get more hp would it be easier to buy a junkyard motor an rebuild it then put it in. bc that truck is going to be my dd.

My preference is 06-07 LBZ, because there are few emissions controls, they come stock with 300rwhp, and have the least problems aside from the LMM

You can easily get 500hp out of any duramax, but you need a lift pump, trans, fuel rail shim, and a good tune, to make a duramax reliable at 500hp is another story, at 400hp they can be pretty reliable if not thrashed every day, but at 500hp its borrowed time, you need to do some massaging to make it reliable:c:

whats wrong on the lbz. so your saying that if i have the truck running 500hp it wont last long. an what kind of things i would have to do to get that or over for dd.
