transfer case question
hey guys i need help with my project, I have a 82 chevy 1ton 4x4 crew cad truck that i am swapping a cummins engine. I got a 1998 dodge 3500 4x4 rollover. My question is that i dont want to change my front axle in my truck is there a way to mate the dodge automatic
trany to my 205 transfer case or use a diffent tranfer case. |
yes you can mate the dodge auto to your 205...just takes a 23 spline input shaft and sleeve for the 205....i have one, but they are really hard to find...i was going to do something similar but now i'm putting my 205 behind a dodge 5 speed

thank for the info, what year or kind of truck can i find the shaft and how hard is it to do it

The np 205 is pretty easy to work on but u need to look for one behind a cummins 89-93 the adapters should be the same too both the th400 and cummins have the same 6 bolt np205 mounting

The GM NP205 uses something like a 10, 27 or 32 spline input and I have not seen any adapters suitable for the Cummins torque. I even had to scrap a 29 spline to 31 spline Ford conversion due to the spud coupler being a huge week link. |
The auto will give you some trouble also if its a 47RE it wont know when to shift, but the 47RH will run with out the ecm, and use toggles for o/d and lockup. im sure there is a way around it though, good luck on your swap. :choochoo::choochoo:
