alot of time and money and probably some pretty good fabrication skills, not sure if advanced adapters has anything for such a conversion, but i'm gonna answer no to the trans bolting up and to the motor mounts lining up
|
I can build my my own mounts no prob just wondering what trans I should use
|
don't know much about the output of the 4bt, i'm assuming it's going to have a lot more torque than the 4.6, what i'm getting at is probably going to need to beef up the trans alot

This is true, I think a turbo 400 chevy trans will work

The trans even though it is the (same) as what you would see on the diesels it is not there are slight HUGH differences. I would install a tranny from a 7.3 powerstroke and it should bolt up to the transfercase and hold up to the power. There are adapter plates (although espensive) from destroked and possibly ford cummins. I am working on a swap myself into an 04 f-150 (same body style)
What 4bt are you looking at using? P-pump, VE, or ISB? |
I have seen some pretty stout power come out of one of those little four bangers. watched one dyno with 500 to the wheels, 125 hp per cylinder, running on wmo and a bit of diesel to thin it. The motor was in a 1500 chevy, and had a set of twins on it.

I wouldn't go with the th400 because it lacks an overdrive. If you have the cash to spend you could go with a 4l80e and get a stand alone contrller. Putting an NV4500 in her might make it a pretty sweet truck also.
