94extcab Ford Short box+DTA360+FSO 8406a+kingpin dana 60 etc...

:choochoo: Ok so here goes. Bought a 1994 ext cab shortbox F150 4x4 just over a year ago when I bought my first home(june 6 2009). solid, but minor rust issues in the normal locations. Great shape for a 94 in the salty winter midwest. Rear axle had some play, 351w(meah will do for now), auto(yuk), auto Transfer case(even worse) but I had the answer for all that.

First major changes happened when I picked up a 80k miles.. manifold unbolted right up easy by hand no pretreat. 90 f350 4x4 diesel $1200. It is to bad it had an auto.. my truck may have gotten this whole drive train for a short time anyway...

10.25 rear axle, manual BW1356 Transfer case, king pin dana 60 front(now rebuilt) custom coil spring front suspension-made for the weight of a diesel. will ride a bit rougher than I want till I get the extra weight it likes... nice solid double cardigan front drive shaft. Custom welded rear drive shaft.

Then came 315/75/R16 made in the USA Nitto terra grapplers. So far the best large tire I have ever put on a truck.. Quiet and grips great on pavement and rain. offroad, snow, ice testing to come.

few dress up mods like window vent shades, bug shield, med duty side mirror set up(only a little bigger than stock), black slotted tail light covers. a nice looking big red truck.

I also acquired a DTA360, and a FSO 8406a fully synchronized over drive 6spd manual medium duty transmission. can get it in trucks rated to 80,000 lb gross vehicle weight.. bout 360lbs dry.. 17pints or quarts of fluid I forget which. :tu:

upgrading valve train for 4500rpm. limiting it to 4300 max rpm. No valve float or damage do to rpm for me.

P7100 pump on the way with a bottom charger for my hx35. I also got a hx40(to make a hybrid if I want) and a hy35 I may goof with for super fast spooling, just put a large external waste gate next to it...

Divorced twin stick NP205 transfer case on the way soon as well.

Pic coming.. I'm crazy busy tho as my 91 true awd twin turbo 5.0L v8 ranger project needs some attention, so does my 94 ext cab 5spd ranger with a 2.3na.. got ALL the parts to twin turbo 2 or 3 2.3 rangers as well...

Ok see if this works.. as I bought the f150 187k miles still running and driving 4k HARD miles later... with upgraded everything behind the transmission. was 1100 as it sits with working AC! 8.8 that was on in this picture had some play.. ttb44 needed bushing but everything worked including auto low range and 4x4 $1200 90 F350 4x4 diesel next to it.. :humm:. pictures too large second.. meg and a half each

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ok try number 3

Diesel is not in it yet... but it is in the garage waiting final mods for 4k +rpm, compound turbos 600-700whp, p7100 injection pump, etc.. maybe a twin disc SAE 2 clutch...

These pictures were 5 minutes ago 10-08-2010. :choochoo: and some shelving in the basement I finished up today for my part collecting business! Those 2 tiny stubbies are the only scrap from 30 8' 2x4s!!! Almost like I planned it out like that!~ I actually changed plan mid stream from 2x 3 level shelves to 3x 2 level shelves like shown... :tu:

This sounds very interesting. Just so I'm following right, you're putting a 360 and medium duty 6spd into an F-150 with 1 ton axles?

wej612 10-08-2010 06:39 PM

Correct. 1 ton Axles and suspension are already on the 1994 Extended cab short box truck in above pictures. 315/75/R16 nitto terra grapplers rated at ~3200 lbs + or -

DTA 360 in the garage right behind the 360lb eaton fuller FSO 8406A transmission. Transmission was fully rebuild with new bearing, synchros, seals, etc. The DTA 360 has a bendix air compressor on it engine oil lubricated and engine coolant cooled!

with a P7100 injection pump, compound turbos, upgraded valve train components arriving soon.. most of it paid for, some of it getting made. I have an hx35 and looking to get a BW s400 series for the larger turbo in compounds... I have an HX40 to make a HX35/40 hybrid later..

Need to get a divorced all 32 spline shafted NP205, and make it twin stick.. may get a linkage kit instead of making all that myself.

I will be reinforcing the frame a bit as well as modified cross members so I could do an in truck rebuild of the motor.. + an exo-skeleton...
