2nd gen 12v into 98+ Dodge Questions!
taking a 98 or newer ram 2500 gasser and putting a 2nd gen 12v into it, how hard is the wiring? J/W if it's enough of a pain in that ass that putting it in a pre 98 would be easier.
Early 98's came with a 12 valve, puttin it in any 2nd gen should be pretty easy :c:
I'm just wondering how much harder it would be to put it in the 98+ trucks that would have come with the 24v.
if it came with a 24v, it will all bolt right up as long as u have the 12v engine mounts. u will have to fab a few things up like the water temp, oil pressure, tach, altenator. and u will need to fab up a throttle using the existing one from the 24v.
if u were to put it in a truck that had the v8, u will have to rig up the frame mounts for the engine, a stouter transmission, and everything i listed above. if u want more details, pm me and ill give ya my number and tell ya more indepth. |
Ok thankyou for the response. :rocking:

I've got a question for you guys that seem to know more than me about this sort o thing. I'm doing this swap with an 01 that had a 24 valve . Already got the 12 in it and running but my problem is the alt and the tach Wong work. I'm new here and any help would be greatly appreciated
I know it has to do with the Crank sensor, but I'm not sure what you have to do to correct it, hopefully somebody will have the answer :c:
on in 01 u will need to get ahold of schieds or one of the bigger shops to get the adapter for the cam sensor. they sale them for the guys p-pumping the 24v, but will work to get the tach working on the 01.

Thanks and yes I got one from destroked came with a 12 sprocket wheel and a 2 wire sensor, have. Wire it every possible way and the tach will work for about twenty seconds the quits any ideas? Thanks
