NV4500HD to NP205
I'm planning to swap a 12v into my 78 K20 sometime soon. I'm definitely gonna use a NV4500 trans. I'd really like to keep my NP205 transfer case. Does anyone make an adapter to mate the 29-spline NV4500HD output to the NP205 32-spline input? I don't wanna use a divorce mounted case. Seems like two more u-joints to worry about breaking. Also, I don't wanna use the Dodge transfer case because I'm affraid of durability issues with the chain-driven case. Any advice guys?

Have you checked with Advanced Adapters?

Run a late chevy nv4500 with cummins input shaft, retainer, bellhousing and clutch. 32 spline out.

use an 89-93 dodge cummins 29 spline no205. theyre cat iron gear driven and heavier than hell. you wont break one.

good call, I think I just keep forgetting about the 29 spline 205 since last time I actually found one I couldn't get it for less than $1,100.

Does the Dodge NP205 have the passenger side front output? I've already got a kingpin D60 front axle from a military K30, and I really don't wanna have to swap it. Thanks for the tips guys.

89-93 dodge cummins np205s (have to be from a 5 speed for the 29 spline) are passenger side drop gear driven np205's

Perfect! Now I just gotta find one. Thanks for the help guys.

any one know what mods are needed to convert a 1997 chevy nv4500hd to work in a 1992 dodge diesel truck with a dodge np205 transfercase.

A dodge mainshaft, bellhousing, hydraulics, 5th gear, 5th gear nut, 5th gear housing, input shaft bearing retainer, and input shaft.

And I imagine you could get one built if they can't be found ...a buddy of mine is having a custom input shaft built for a D300 to mate it to some Mercedes transmission..we can do it over here, should be easier in the US :humm: |

I know this is an older topic but wouldn't it be easier to source a 29-spline input shaft for your NP205 ?
