chevy cummins
I've got a buddy wanting to put a 12V in his duramax, but I'm wondering about the Chevy IFS being able to hold up the 12V. I'm not sure what year his is if that matters.. What do you guys think?

Dude...it's a 3/4 ton truck. It'll hold... It's not as strong as a solid axle front, but there's many a 2wd Dodge that has held up to a Cummins. Duramax is 860lbs vs Cummins 1000lbs. The extra 140lbs isn't going to kill it.
I hope he does his homework, most guys I've read about do a straight axle conversion up front due to clearence issues with the front diff.
Clearance issues bad. It will take a lot to put it in there not to mention everything else on the truck is computer controlled and I don't know how well it will like having a different engine in it.
why the hell is he putting a piece of shit cummins in when he's already got a dmax?
if he wants a cummins so bad sell the truck and buy a cummins. that conversion will be a nightmare and way more money than its worth
He's wantin to do it because apparently the dmax is dying and hes got a cummins handy. The electrical part would definitely be a huge pain, but itd be doable.

Re: chevy cummins
Get another dmax in there. I guarantee it will be cheaper all said and done.

Tell your buddy it's well worth the swap. Very few clearance issues, the IFS holds up fine and he would be getting rid of the shitbox Duramax.
