8.3 Cummins ino a topkick HELP!
Good Morning,
I could really uses some Help and positive feedback on my project!! I have taken a 454 out of a 1999 GMC kodiak, I have picked up a 1993 8.3 liter cummins from a bus that had a fire, The engine was not effected, Anyhow The radiator is to big to fit in the kodiak up front..The motor home has a side mounted raidiator with a hydlolic fan.. MY question is if I mount this on the side of the topkick like the motor home the closest I could get it to the engine is 9', How will this effect the raidiator? will the pump push the water ok? If I put the turbo intercooler in the front of the topkick without the fan will the air from driving be enough for that? or will I need to put an electric fan on it? If anyone has any expieriance in this please let me know!!! Danny Noland Casa Grande, AZ |
welcome to diesel bombers and do you have the engine in already and is the fan from the engine close enough to cool the intercooler and how far away was the hyd fan set up on the motor home. :humm: and on a kodiak is there enough room between the engine and the front grill where you could retrofit some mounts further forward to hold your radiator and cooler:humm:

Why don't you get an air or visco clutch from a truck setup?

the pictures look cool the radiator I have came out of the motor home, I would love to find a radiator and inter-cooler that could keep th 8.3 cool and fit in the 1999 spacelike in the pictures??
The radiator I have is 29" tall it wont fit in the location |
Sorry for digging up an old thread but I wanted to know if you ever shoe horned that bad boy in there. Looking at doing the same thing myself this summer.
