99 f150 gettin a 7.3
 

hey guys i just wanted to ask if any one has done a swap into my body style f 150 with a 7.3 alot of you seem to be cummins fans I am dead set on using the 7.3 because i already own the 92 f250 that it is coming from it was origanally a non turbo model 7.3 but the previous owner added a banks sidewinder turbo system among other mods i am converting the f150 to a strait axle (already have that too) dana 60 i know that i will have to brace the frame rails and modify the mounting i am no stanger to the fabrications that will need to be done my problem is the wiring and i would like everthing to work that would be nice I just dont really know any thing about wiring any one wh can help thank you

I don't know where you're located, but just wanted to be sure you have already checked the laws on engine swaps in your state. Here in WA, you couldn't do the swap you're talking about - at least not if you want to register the truck.

Around here when you do an engine swap you have to transplant an engine that is as new or newer than the vehicle it is going into in order to be able to register it. A 92 motor into a 99 couldn't be registered. I'm sure you've already checked on all that stuff for where you live. Just sayin'...

As for the wiring question, that will be a bit tough, but do-able. I'm doing the same thing on my Diesel Cherokee build. I started with the engine wiring diagrams for the Jeep and began by eliminating all the wiring for the ignition, computer, and emissions, just keeping the switched wire to the coil (for the fuel cutoff) and the starting and charging circuits.

Next I'm bw taking the wiring diagram for the Olds that the diesel came out of, and eliminating any emissions junk, and keeping only the wiring for the glowplugs, starting, charging, and fuel cutoff circuits.

From there it is just a matter of splicing the two together. For your project, the process should be similar...

thanks creeper but im in florida and pretty much any thing goes here since there are no emissions to pass but that sucks that thats the way it is in some states because buildin a custom ride is kinda bringin stuff together and makin it work no matter how pro you are u always find some thing that will work and thats what its about
