06 dodge gas to diesel swap
How hard would it be to swap a diesel into a gas pickup? What all would be involved? I figured on buying a wrecked 06 to take the motor, wiring computers off, ect... how hard will this be? and excluding the price of the 2 trucks themselves how much is it gonna cost? Thanks for your thoughts!

Well your looking at a good chunk of money. The body is exactly the same and such between the gas and diesel but the engines are not which means you are going to need motor mounts, electrical wiring, a tranny, and may other little things to get it to work. You will basically have to take everything out of one and put it in the other with all the right modifications to the electrical wiring and stuff. Its a big project but thats not to say it cant be done.
Shoot I would say if you do it all right and get everything you need maybe 7k not including the trucks just to give you a little cushion price wise. |
:s: Dang... I figured with all the computers and wiring harness it would be a pretty straight forward swap.. Just goes to show what i know... LOL guess i'll stick with my ol 12V for awhile longer.... But arent the automatic transmisions the same with the exception of the torque converter?

also gunna have to beef up the suspention. otherwise ur tires are gunna be rubbin your hood:nope:
but its not to bad of a swap. my buddy bought a wrecked gasser out impound cuz it had front end damage and was titled wrecked. so took a couple days and swapped it all out. its not to bad. we lucked out cuz it was already a lifted truck so the suspention was already beefy. just ended up cobbling up a tripple shock mounts just in case :tu: |
