Nissan Hardbody 3.9 swap

I havent desided on doing the swap yet but i def. want to do it. i am a huge cummins fan. and that littlw 3.9 is a bad little motor. not i just dont no if i can do it. I have seen that motor in a ford ranger before. But i want your input on it. i wanna do it because NOONE!!!!! has anythinglike it done where i live and it would be pretty bad ass. i no i have plenty of room under the hood. so that isnt a problem. so if u guys could help that would be great. and if u could maybe throw out a predicting price of this project that will be great to.

This would be very cool - I hate to say it but we are limited in knowledge here. Check out www.4btswaps.com

Wow man. Have you looked into fitment? That would be sweet though. I'm a Nissan fan too :)

I want to shake your hand there suzukiracer!!! I am die-hard Cummins and Nissan as well. I had two '93 Hardbodies that I wouldn't have taken a million dollars for! That would be great!!!! I'd just be hitting the internet wide open looking for some resources. Thats got me excited thinking about it.

i dont think fitment would be a problem because theres a guy in town that has a 350 in his and it fit just fine. i have never seen a 3.9 but im guessing it cant be bigger then that. the only thing that im curious about is the wieght of these motors and also what tranny would bolt up to the motor??

These little engines are quite heavy....not exactly sure what would need to be done to the front end in order to support the extra weight. If the Nissan is four wheel drive, would a solid front axle swap be a viable option to provide some trustworthy support? I know some great websites with resources and info to support that venture. Also, as far as fitment is concerned, what about height? As in, would the engine need to be too tall in some manner thusly creating an issue? For some reason, I am thinking an NV 4500 would bolt up to these however I am not 100% for sure and would welcome a correction if I was wrong there. Actually, I have been pondering what an easy transmission mateing choice would be for a 4bt myself...Check out 4btswaps.com

Caught a grammer foul-up on myself there.....I meant to say "As in, would the engine be too tall in some manner thusly creating an issue?" :argh:

yea mine truck is 2 wd. could i just maybe make a shock hoop for a dual shock set up? and if its to tall i would cut a hole/rectangle in the hood and put a cowl induction hood scoop, that should work right?? i want to make this a 100% one of a kind project.

ever thought about putting in a 1.9L vw tdi? fitment and weight would be fine and you could probably get like 200hp out of one with ease ;) plus the 5k rev limit would work with your stock trans pretty well.
