dt466 conversion
I recently purchased a dt466 1985 model. It has a inline bosh pump. I want to put it in a 1 ton ford pickup 4x4. what is the best years to do this in the trucks. starting at 1973 Which would be easy. also what transmission would u use i dont care if its auto or man. I know i will have to use a divoresd transfer case. I will be putting atleast a 3lm turbo on it I want to make her run hard. i have been thinking about a 1978 4 door 4x4 shortbed having a hard time finding one though.

I almost did that swap into a super duty. For gears, you need some freeway flyers, 3.55 at the steepest if you dont have overdrive. Trans, I was going to use an Allison AT545 with mine, mainly due to the size and quicker shifts than the bigger ones. Suncoast makes a better converter for them to take away the rubbe band feel. The 545 is a non-lockup, non-overdrive auto, but does have 4 nicely spaced / progressive gears. For a manual, you should be able to fit an RT or RTO610, but that's more fab work with the clutch. If you're gonna up the power too much, you better have some good axles & shafts.
Fitment.... newer is better. There's a 466 swap being done to a 74 krew kab, and the back 2 cyls are in the cab. The 99 that I was gonna do, I was only needing to go into the cab about 3-4".

With that governer, there's no 3k gov spring kit. You can make your own. Take out the smallest spring in the gov spring pack. Make/ grind down 2 washers that fits the diameter of the spring and still fits in the stud. Make sure it's around 1.55mm thick for best results. Put a washer in each set of springs, and tighten to 2 -4 clicks past the factory setting(measure the original stud protrusion). You should hit at least 3200 like that. Besides that, it takes fuel and timing with your turbo. Those 3LM's arent that big are they?

My friends all run pro stock classes in tractor pulling. They said they have some extra injecters. They told me to send the pump off and get 13mm plungers They told me i can turn it up to around 600 to 700 horse with no problem if i dont pull anything to heavy i would have to run gauges

are u saying the 99 and up superduty have more room? If so i should go buy a salvage truck from junk yard I can pick them up pretty cheap
