I do. I'd like to get a couple more conversions lined up before the end of the year. I will keep you guys posted on the progress on my truck.

CountryGirl91 11-05-2009 07:19 AM

I've been planing to do that and I just bought 12-valve Cummins and manual transmission. I want to put it into my 1/2 ton '02 Silverado and do alot of fabrication but my dad says just to find about the same year truck but in a 3/4 or 1 ton to make things a little easier.

screaminseema 11-05-2009 01:07 PM

I'd run the half ton. The power to weight ratio would make that truck fun to drive.

tiffo60 11-17-2009 02:05 PM

Googled chevy to cummins conversions and this thread popped up so I registered to get in on the fun. I too am interested in doing this. I have a 2002 Denali Quadrasteer that I would love to have an 03 or so model cummins dropped in it and was wondering what it would take money and work wise to make it happen.

We need more pics on that chevy with a cummins!!!

very nice!

72chevycamshaft 12-29-2009 06:38 AM

Screaminseema, I should just hire you to do the swap!!! :) Im sure you have many hours on that swap.

screaminseema 12-29-2009 09:26 AM

I'd be happy to do the swap for you. It is a very labor intensive swap. It averages about 100 hours.

bullfrog8813 12-31-2009 04:32 AM

Ok here's some ques I have.... #1 how do you keep the factory gauge cluster? Heater and a/c? :humm:

screaminseema 12-31-2009 05:00 AM

The PCM is reflashed to run just the AC and instrument cluster. The heater is unaffected by the conversion.

dansdieselp 01-05-2010 09:12 PM

Who can do the reflash? We are thinking about putting a Common Rail in a 04 Chevy.

screaminseema 01-05-2010 10:55 PM

I can or you can use EFI Live.

JRayls2500hd 11-25-2010 11:06 AM

whats a conversion from an 2003 8100 4x4 to a 5.9 24valve cost ballpark for you to do it i do not have a cummins motor yet

screaminseema 11-26-2010 12:29 AM

My shop rate is $65 per hour. That swap takes between 65-100 hours. I have a p-pumped 24valve in a 05 for sale that would be a drob in if you wanted to do the work yourself.

JRayls2500hd 11-26-2010 07:12 AM

surely my zf6 trans would handle it i seen somewhere someone makes adapter plates i dont have a enough posts to pm u about the price

junkphil 02-14-2011 12:50 PM

8.1

if you got any motors let me know philliprwebber@yahoo.com

Schoenhalsequip 08-28-2011 07:18 PM

The zf tranny will hold up justfine

I am currently puting a cummins in a 2002 chevy 3/4ton hd and orderd a EFI tool for a gm gas hoping it will let me disable some pcm things if anyone knows let me know i have put a 12v in a 2006 f-350 and had exelent luck had to build a harness but the guages all work good:argh:

schamran 03-21-2012 08:28 AM

I've been wanting to swap in a 24 valve with a NV4500 (4x4). Is there enough room for a clutch pedal under the dash, and for the shifter to come through the floor?

pullincrazy88 03-29-2012 09:42 AM

im doing a little research for my swap into a 2000 old body style but already wired with a newer LS1 style pcm. are you using electric fans or a clutch driven? i plan on running electric but want to wire them into the pcm to turn on and off automatically with temp. change like a factory set up would. have you tried this?
