2000 f150 gas to diesel conversion
i have a 2000 ford f150 5.4L V8 4x4 single cab long bed. iv been wanting to put a 7.3 in for a while now. i was wondering how possible it would be. i'm already upgrading the front suspension. im converting it to a solid axle(Dana 44) from a 78 bronco. if needed ill box in the frame if not already and add extra cross members. i was planning on buying a donor truck thats running and pull the motor out with transmission and install in my truck. if im missing anything here let me know and some helpful tips would be great. thank -

You should be able to fit it but may require a bit of firewall removal. It will also be a very tight fit for the parts in the compartment. the F150 has a slightly smaller body width and length from the F250 and F350 but seems possible to me. I believe it will fit, maybe tightly but it should. You shouldn't have to box the frame either.

The 4bt cummins would be a better engine in my opinion. The 7.3 is pretty heavy.

^^^^ what he said. I would think you could start having some scary front end issues
|
What trucks have the 4bt cummins in them and will it bolt up to my transmission

Most step vans have them. You will have to have a bell housing adapter, flywheel, and if you have an auto trans, a trans shift controller.

How about ford's new ecoboost 3.5 diesel engine. It is currently being use in Ford's f150 and Taurus. I have a 2002 f150 with 5.4 v8 engine and is thinking of a gas to diesel swap as well. Does anybody know what kind of problem I will encounter if I'll do this swap? Any information or suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you.

You are right, ford's 3.5 ecoboost engine is a gas engine. My mistake.
