IH 436 combine engine in a F350

I figured this engine is close to the dt466 in size. I need to figure out what trans to use. I'd like to go with a 6 speed out of a super duty if possible. I see I'm going to have to do some butchering on the firewall and who knows what else. Hopefully someone here has more info on this than I do.

Let's help each other on this! A good friend just sent me the link to your post! I have (finally!) started putting a 1st gen Cummins in my '73 Int'l Crew Cab p.u.!! I am excited to get going on it and get it done!

For starters, have you heard of fordcummins.com - Increase Horsepower with Ford Cummins Diesel conversion kits ? There is another I can't think of right now but I will get you the link as soon as I do. They (Both sites) have adapter plates to put different engines into Ford p.u.'s using existing Ford transmissions!
Also, do you know about Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market ? If you put in different years and models, you can sort of back wards engineer what different years used certain parts. This site will also show many salvage yards around the country that may have parts you need for your conversion.
If I remember correctly from school (I very recently graduated from a diesel technology course at my local college: CSI in Twin Falls, ID!) that engine is rather long! Hopefully you have enough room in the cab to sacrifice what the engine will need. (Of course it would make a great 'space heater' to cuddle up to in the winter months :w2: ) . . . . LOL

I'm currently trying to find out what I need for a flywheel, clutch and what not to get my '90 12V Cummins attached to an '03 NV5600 and crammed into that old girl of mine. I think I will need to modify the 'front'wall to be able to fit in my CAC and A/C condenser... But it will be worth it in the end.

Let's do work together on these great projects! Fire away your questions and I'll answer the ones I can. If you want to do some of it on email just fire me a PM with your addy and we can do that too. I like to put out what info I can in a thread like this so that it might help others with their project!

Where are you? (I guess I already gave that away on myself.....:humm: LOL ) Wrenches here we come!! (Have to get to turning 'em as winter is lurking out there somewhere . . . . )

I live in Iowa. I got this engine from a junk combine we are getting rid of. It's out of a 1460 IH. Rated at 175 hp. It ran good when we parked it about 8 years ago. It'll be interesting to see how easy it starts up again. Good luck with your swap. I think you'll have better luck with it that mine.

So how has this project been coming along for you?

(I guess I would have to admit life has been getting in the way of mine. . . . )
