Diesel Conversion For F-150
 
Hello all, i was wondering that if i could find a wrecked 88-91 F-250 0r 350 with a 7.3L idi in it, if it would be a hard swap into mt 89 F-150, i was told it would basically be a direct bolt on process(but nothing is ever easy). my front suspension is already beefed up to be able to hold the heavy diesel, and ive noticed that my fuse block and wiring harness is already set up for glow plugs and ect for diesels(weird for a f-150). Any help is appreciated thanks guys:U:

The biggest problem I see being a problem would be the engine cross member. The half ton frames are half the size of the 3/4ton and 1ton frames. And the engine cross member is half the size as well. You might be able to unbolt the engine mount stands from the diesel truck and modify them to the frame of the half ton, but I would feel better personally if I just used a 3/4 ton frame at least due to the weight of the 7.3.:U:

yea i figured that, but some guy around here who has done this kind of swap inspired me to do the same so im gonna see what i can do hehe, even if i gotta get a 4BT

Look around, you can usually pick one up for under $1000.

Do you think it will be really hard to get it to fit in the 1/2 ton ?, i have the SB C6 tranny in the truck at the moment with a BW 1356 Transfer case, do you think a diesel C6 would fit in the same? and be able to use the same T-case?:humm:

Ok i found a 94 turbo diesel idi i wanna get and a zf5 trans, and im gonna hook it to my bw tcase sound good?:tttt:
