WOW... I can't belive this tread is still alive.I have been away for a while and just reading thru these posts, some of you guys have crazy ideas with all different trans. and adapters,i love it.
Just the update from my build i drive jeep almost on daily basis without any troubles so far.no vibrations or any problems whatsoever and now that we got hammered with snow 4x4 works great too.Last time i put it in 4wd was month ago and it stayed that way so far and probably will till snow is over with.I take it on freeway on and off road and it runs great so far.I average 20-21 mpg during winter but jeep idles a lot between stops and the wind on daily basis doesnt help the matter. So far i have little over 10000 miles since conversion and i am happy with it. good luck on your projects. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Hey jahulgan, I hate to ask this of you, but would you be willing convert those AutoCad drawings to an older version? The only version of the program I have access to is AutoCad 2003 LT, and it would appear that your drawings are in a newer format. As you probably know, newer versions can read drawings created in older versions of the program - but not vice-versa. |

no i did not balance the flywheel. i did, think about it for a while but in the end i decided that all flywheels are almost if not perfectly balanced to begin with.i work as diesel mechanic at local MACK TRUCK dealership and we do lot of clutch jobs and everytime we install resurfaced flywheel and not once we had to send old flywheel to machine shop or had any vibrations.that is just my take on it but if you want to take it and have it done by all means do it otherwise it will mess with your mind.i have had my jeep reved up to max several times and have no vibrations whatsoever, but i was leary when it was done and right before i started it up if it was going to vibrate,so it is your choice.I am not telling you to do it or not but you make up your mind and stick with it.
for trans issue you have i know the trans you have is not the best trans out there but i would probably try it just for the hell of it.You already have that and if you hate that trans that bad or goes bad down the road you can replace it with ax-15 or something else that you may be able to find out there, also depends on what you are going to use your jeep for. your bolt patern for bell housing is going to be the same so you wont have to mess with adapter plate:c: and one more thing-I wouldn't bother with ANY automatic tranz conversion-they soak up too much hp. |
