6.5 TD into an 85 Yota

ok, so i need to start a different project and get away from my black truck cuz im breaking to many dang things here lately! lol.. i had a friend give me a 93 model 6.5 turbo diesel from his old wrecked chevy. i have a toyota truck that i lifted a little bit and i want to really jack it up in the future, and in doing that i need something with a little more power and something that gets a little better mileage than the little 22r in it already.. has anyone on here done this conversion yet? im curious if so id like to know just a few pointers on what to watch out for and what not..

You are asking for axle problems. The front IFS is weak with the 22r in it I dont see it holding up to a Diesel. So figure that into the project cost because you WILL have to upgrade the axles.

The TOYOTA truck your talking about with thr 22r, is the little one, if so you better have a MONEY MACHINE, cause your going to have to change almost everything, I know a guy who put a 5.9 CUMMINS in his LAND CRUISER, but that SUV has some room for the engine !!!

I don't think the 6.5 is much bigger then a 350 is it? We put a couple 350's in yotas around here and its not too bad as far as swapping engines goes. The rest teh truck is not up to the task. Maybe look at a stock 4bt.

yeah the 6.5 is just a hair bit bigger than a 350, but everything mounts the same and you can swap trannys and whatnot from big blocks small blocks to the 6.5.. the yota i have has straight axles, it was the last year of the straights...

i'm doing the same thing to an 87 toyota except i'm dropping a 1st generation 12 valve ctd in it

At least it is better then the IFS but the Burfield will not take any abuse in a lock turn position. Get a set of longfields that will help them. Is teh 4cyl EFI? If so DONT swap. That truck is worth a good chunk of change over KBB.

ok cool.. no, the 4 banger in this truck is still carbureted..
