mercedes 220d in a '85 Toyota 4x4

Hi all, I'm looking for any info. that might be out there on a 1971 or 1972 Mercedes 220D diesel engine and if maybe it could be dropped down into the engine compartment of a 1985 Toyota 4x4 P.U. My concerns are: the weight of the engine, the horse power and the torque compared to a 22r. and also what might be involved in attaching the trannie. Also could I add a turbo.
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

An Om617 from a newer benz (late 70's-mid 80's) is a popular swap, you can buy the complete car from $500-1000, Quite a few of them have been dropped into Toy's. Several manufactures have conversion kits that adapt the benz motor to a large range of transmissions. I'm dropping one into a 97 Jeep TJ if I can ever get time to get back at it! LOL! The OM 617 comes with turbo and non turbo versions. Just do a search on it, and you would be suprised at how many have been done.

I was looking at a 240d(om616) swap for my Jeep Cherokee(currently has a Renault 2.1td in it) once before I decided to leave the Jeep(for now) and focus on my Mazda b2600i 4x4\mitsubishi swap.
i look forward to seeing yours move along!

I have found this info.

diesel fuel engine with displacement: 2197 cm3 / 134.5 cui, advertised power: 44 48 kW / 59 64 hp / 60 65 PS ( DIN SAE ), torque: 125.5 130 Nm / 93 96 lb-ft

Which is making me think I might be disappointed with the amount of horse power from this engine. Would any of you agree?

83-85 300 series cars that come with the turbo from the factory, the turbo manifold will bolt right up to a non turbo engine, but the none turbo doesnt have the heavier duty bearings. Search "OM617" on this forum, lots of info, they are not a powerhouse, but if your looking for reliabilty, they are the engine for you. Several manufactures make adapters for them.

MOTOR MOUNT INFO NEEDED

Well, I'm still searching. I am looking at a Mitsubishi 4d31 that come with a turbo. It's all mechanical but I understand that it spits oil out of the valve cover breather under heavy sustained loads. Does anybody know what the cause and remedy would be for this? Also, does anyone have any specs on this engine such as weight, horse power, etc.?
I thank you for your knowledge.
Alex
