OM617 to Suzuki Vitara
Hello everyone!
New to diesel bombers and As I’ve started this project that I’ve thought of doing ever since I got the suki in 2011, finally I purchased a 82 w126 300sd and despite my most difficult task is finding a machine shop to make my tranny adapter plate, motor mounts, everything else I’ll customize, does anyone have any pro tips for me? I was thinking of transferring not just the engine, but wiring harness and use the sash off the merc but also the fuel tank and radiator etc, hope to hear from u guys and will be posting pix of my build as I go along!

It may be easier to use a Chevy or Jeep drive train, as several companies make adapters for those. I think there is also a company that makes adapters for the Toyota transmissons.
I have an adapter from this company that is of good quality. Transmission Adapters
There is also. Mercedesdiesl4x4.com.
Check out Evenglass's build on this forum, his is a Jeep Cherokee build, but has a lot of usefull information about the OM617.
You will need very little of the Mercedes wiring harness, as it is all mechanical. You will need the glow plug relay and fuse, and a few other small items from the benz though.
