1995 c1500 4bt swap

I'm wanting to swap out the 4.3 in my 95 gmc half ton 2wd regular cab step side. I'm wanting to put a diesel engine in it. I know it will be more expensive than a typical LS swap but I want more power with better fuel millage. What all would be involved with a 4bt swap for my truck and is there somewhere that I can find a kit for this swap.

Cummins has an all new R2.8 motor available now. It is a new in crate, stand a lone, 50 states legal motor. It comes complete with all it's own wiring, gas pedal, etc. What it doesn't have is cooling system, battery, transmission, motor mounts and adapters needed to bolt up to the transmission. It has been put into Jeeps and older Landcruisers so far. By the way, I'm not connected in any way, just interested in the system. If I had the funds right now I would seriously consider it.

It is not cheap, about $9k, but apparently is on sale now until April 15 at 15% off. Google Cummins R2.8 and you will get a lot of information, both pro and con. If you have the funding available do your research and decide.

You might even consider a Mercedes OM617 5 cyl turbo diesel, several people make adapters that bolt right up to your Chevy transmission. Quite a bit cheaper than a 4bt, and longer lasting. The down side is they cannot be as easily modified for power like the 4bt.
