24 valve into a 87 chevy
Guys I need a little help.
I am going to be putting a 99 24 valve cummins into a chevy 1 ton pickup. I want to run a 5 speed but open to auto if it comes across my path. I do understand I will have to modify the cross member in the front, and other modifications. My big question is what transfer case is everyone using, and is the NV 4500 out of the 99 dodge 4x4 donor truck a good one to use Also what is the best route to go with the electronics to run motor. Any information would be great Thanks guys. |
Get a wrecked donor truck and go from there. If you intend to keep the electronic set up then you need to move the whole harness. Personally if p pump the 24v and use a nv5600 if I was being picky.

I agree get a full donor truck. It will make life easier in the long run. As for transfer case the stronger one will be the DHD, but unless you plan on modding the truck past stock levels a DLD will work just fine.
