Tube frame build for 6BT Wagoneer
Hey folks! Had a couple of things I wanted to explore in hopes you guys could help me out. I have been following a build that a guy did a couple of years ago 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - Fullsize Diesel - Jp Magazine I wanted to do something similar, but a little different.
I have a 1988 Grand Wagoneer, a second gen 6BT, a 5r110 (5spd auto from a 06 f350), np271, dana 60, and sterling 10.5. Yes, all intended to go into the wagoneer. I was hoping to make a DD that gets decent mileage, but looks and performs like a beast :scare2: In talking to the guy that did said build, he said he would build the frame rails taller if anything to help handle the torque. He boxed it, and plated a lot, but he said it still wasn't enough. I wanted to know what kind or size of rectangular tubing you might recommend and why? I was thinking of 6"x2"x1/4" but this is my first build of this size... bombs away! Thanks, Jeff |
I would think .25 wall would be fine maybe go 6x3 if its available .
