k1500 cummins

im starting on a Cummins 12 valve install on my 92 k1500 gmc 4x4 ifs, not solid axle
now my question is how well is the front end going to carry the extra weight, and what do i need to do to beef it up to handle it? :humm:
i figure it will be fine but i figure i better ask for some advice be fore i learn the hard way:dang:

thanks

Thats alot of weight up front. Its been done. What is your intention with the truck, rock crawling, trail blazing, mountain terriains, sand dunes? With all that weight up front, that could beat the sh*t out of the stock front suspension and possibly the frame. Ya may be able to find the answers to your questions on the net. There are vids on line as well on that project.

The 8-lug IFS isn't a direct swap, so there's not a lot of beefing up you can do.

I would buy an SAS kit. Probably a setup that uses the common/cheap 92-97 Ford D60 axle.

i think im going to keep looking for an older dodge, im going for drag racing so hi-hp is the goal, i know the axles will have to be changed and a lot of other stuff, so i will keep looking for a dodge of some sort. that will probly be better in the long run

thanks again guys:tu:
