Check out 4btswaps.com
there is a 2003 Yukon that had a 4bt swapped into it. Compounds and a 4l80. Great thread. Tons of info.

offroad design are the guys you should consult for the sas. As for the motor I would go with a p-pumped 12 valve (94-98) 4bt is a great motor but you will not be happy with the power.

I don't know what state you live in but your first thing would be to see what they require for smog crap. In Ca. you need to smog it to what ever is newer, the truck or motor. That right there might be a big stumbling block for ya. As for the sas kit i used the one from www.sky-manufacturing.com - was a lot cheaper and a pretty good kit.

Just to clarify I wasn't suggesting a 4bt, just everything that had been done to it would have to be done with this 1500HD

so its not a yukon but a tahoe.

you should already have a 4l80 (if auto) and have the heavy duty torsion bars but you may still have to upgrade with a 6bt. also he tackled installing a duramax rad support and intercooler in detail and what he did with the fly by wire throttle.

03' Z71 Tahoe 4bta Swap (Looong term project.. well.. sorta))

hopefully it helps.

I have a 2006 yukon xl 1500 that I would love to do this to in the future but emisionions
will kill me..

you need to check how legal this will be in your area.

Bringing thread back .... So today is the day ... The mighty 6.0 with 383000 miles on it spit a rod left a hole the size of my fist in the pan and side of block so its swap time !! Gonna go 12 valve truck has a 4l80e in it or i have an allison out of a school bus stock transfer case or have a divorced 205 Case i was really hoping to run the 4l80e and tcase so inside will be left stock , have been looking at many different mods for trans from stand alone controller to eliminating all electronics from it and using a trans brake valve body. Ive seen alot of chevys from 2000 to 2007 done but not much show and tell any one have a build or two they will share some dos and donts? im in michigan so smog testing doesnt affect me yet! Thanks in advance

If your trans is good look at destroked.com and get a conversion plate to bolt the 12v to your current trans. That way you still have the stock appearance.

Thats what i was thinking ? Its hard never done a diesel swap i read alot of info and what not but the trans has been a pain as everyone has negative feedback so who do you believe i know a friend has a 4l80e in a camaro that chassis dynoed at 3200 hp to rear tires, alot of people say the 47re is the way to go but i know they fail people say the allisons wont hold up to a cummins yet that was the combo in school busses that way 5 times the amount of my truck , i know in the end its preferance but it would just be nice to get the reason a trans will fail or what to do to make it live lol, i want to use as little computer crap as i can 12valve doesnt require a computer correct , and the 4l80e can be made to run without one in manual form so i guess a little input there would be helpful

gh0stman 10-27-2015 03:27 PM

I'm not sure if any computer on the 12v. The 47re can be made good to hold up to a cummins. But plan on spending 4000-5000. I had one in my truck and sold it to drop in my nv4500. The only thing you have worry about with a cummins is that it makes a ton of power at a low rpm.
