Kubota V2203 DI Oil ?. Rotella 15W40 VS Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W40?
 

Well for grins I thought I would pick up some Rotella 15W40 since it is on sale at Wally World for $12.97 a gallon for when I get this thing running and drain that and put in some Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W40 since I thought it was a good price of $19.22 per gallon.

Is the Synthetic good for the Kubota?

I also thought the Synthetic would be better on the Turbo?

They run synthetic in our company reefers, the only down side is the seals tend to leak. I run the Rotella 15w40 dino and change it more often.

Then Maybe I will mix the two. As I have 2 Gallons or 1 Oil Fill of Rotella 15W40 and 4 Gallons or 2 Oil Fills of Rotella 5W40. Maybe by mixing them it will help with oil seepage as well as better oil flow and help things turn a bit easier.

I could tell you about the benefits of doing this in a Gas engine but I do not think it would transfer to our Diesels to any significant degree.

My original plan was that when I first got the engine started to run the Rotella 15W40 for maybe 1000 Mi or less just to get anything out of the engine while I was working on it and installing it into the truck. Then change it out for the Rotella T6 5W40 to gain the benefits of the Full Synthetic.

I just felt it was not a bad price for Full Synthetic. Or at least next to Royal Purple or Amsoil.

FTE have you thought about a Bypass Filter set up?

I realize the benefits of full synthetic , that said the oil still gets contaminated so I choose to use dino and change more frequently. I live in an area that the weather isn't so extreme, if I did synthetic would be used. As for the bypass system, I don't know I just like to keep it simple.

I am Sorry FTE but when you live in an area where the news cast will say do not have any exposed skin or it may freeze and fall off I think is a bit extreme. :)


Down in South TEXAS we do not usually get all that cold. Usually down in to the mid 30's or so and for days in the mid 60's. But in the summer well we just melt. A couple of years ago we had over 100 days of over 100F weather. For seasons we only really have two. Melt and light jacket. Today is a bit odd where the High will be 76F and the low 67F.

Back to Oil. :). If I mix the two say at 50/50 do you think it would help the oil seepage problem associated with running straight synthetic?

To add to this I was seriously looking at using the Fleetguard LF9028 filter as it is a standard filter and a bypass filter all in one. And mainly used in stationary engine platforms such as the Kubota. By using such a Filter there is not a great need to run a separate bypass filter setup.

Well I take it the other 10% is pre filling the Oil Filters? Of which if one is able to do so is a good idea.
