can somone please help me!! 91 dodge cummins

Can someone please tell me what the rubberish plate on the block is for? Its located on the inside side of the inj. Pump on the block right behind the timing cover

Sound proofing the lifter cover.

Should it be something to be concerned about the front of the cover is starting to seperate from the block?

The lifter cover... yes. That would create an oil leak.

The sound deadener.... no. That is only for noise abatement.

Ok also have another question. When the truck gets up to temp,it will throw out steam and antifreeze out of the radiator but only for a few sec then goes away, a few min later it will repeat this process, any thoughts or suggestions?

cumminsf150 12-23-2013 09:51 AM

is this with the radiator cap off? or on? could be blown head gasket or cracked head.

So I assume it's coming out of the overflow? Might be a bad cap.

when my head gasket was out you could see like boiling water in the radiator with the cap off and there was a faint green tint in the exhaust pipe if you looked it with a bright light

if your gasket is out a few things to be aware of

you will need to get it milled off and might as well have it gone through but not just any machinist can do a cummins head you need one that understands diesels and the way the valves are set back n the head

before mine would crank over 10-15 seconds before it would fire after my head was done mare 1 turn and it was running it is all in a proper done head
