Cummins B series question

Ok, this has bothered me for a while now.. Can anybody tell me specifically what the difference is between a 93 and 94 5.9 is??? Lots of stuff available for the 94 and up models, so why is the 93 model so different and where?

The big difference between 93 and 94 enginges is that the 93 has a rotory injection pump they had that from 89 thru 93 in 94 they switched to the inline pump that handles a lot more fuel so horsepower posibilities are much better then the rotory.also I am not sure if it was in 94 but at some point they started using wastgated turboes they mite not have done that until 95 or 96. Anyway hope that helps

Well, it helped a little.. I'm more concerned with differences in the electrical and exhaust areas.. None of the aftermarket stuff seems to go back as far as 93..

So far as electrical I'm sure there is some difference but not a whole lot . The exhause I think are very close to the same and can be modified easily or they are interchangeble

Electrical differences are small. Injection pump still needs 12volts to turn on the fuel. Both have grid heaters. All 97-older B series are mechanical.

The exhaust difference is mainly the shape of the downpipe. 1st gen's turbo outlet points straight at the firewall and the downpipe does a full 90* gooseneck to get under the truck. The 2nd-gen uses a 45* turbo outlet and the downpipe comes up on a 45* from under the cab. Basically, the 2nd gen has more exhaust room. The cab is designed for more clearance, and the front diff pumpkin is on the other side.
