Here is my project, I have been working on this for 3 weeks now. What's left to do is finish the wiring harness, and haul to the exhaust shop to have the head pipe bent, Repair the clutch pedal assembly(previous owner welded it, but its clocked wrong and needs to be corrected) reinstall the seats (removed to clean and pull carpet, will do a spray in floor later on) I have run it on the lift and I am not sure about the mounts, they seam a little firm but it's ok for now. It runs 65 mph at governor speed in 5th. I want to install a set of 6.00 X 16 NDT military tires they are 30" tall and just 4" wide should be easy to pull and the gearing. That looks great, little turbo wining is cool! Have you adjusted the governor spring yet? It will give you a lot more power.:pca1:

Thanks, and I have not made any fuel adjustments yet. I picked it up from the exhaust shop at noon today and drove it back to my shop (15 miles)with the exhaust pipe on, but the turbo charge pipe still off. I fabricated a charge pipe and test drove and the turbo had no boost. I removed the pipe the exhaust pipe from the turbo and was able to get 5 psi of boost on a light test drive with an open exhaust. So I then reconnected the exhaust pipe to the turbo and disconnected it from the muffler and tail pipe and got 4 psi max boost. So I'm stumped and i'm thinking that the entire exhaust system is to small. The turbo outlet plate that I made has the same exact size hole as the bore that the exhaust fan finishes into and the head pipe at the turbo outlet is an 1/16" bigger than that hole and it all lines up well. I think that the pipe should have been larger to allow the exhaust gas to expand further. Any thoughts?

Is that a factory Kubota turbo or one off something else. If the turbo is too big it won't spool up or build boost. If it is the factor turbo unhook the wastegate and see what you get.

Looks good! I think your going to want to change your solid motor mounts somehow and get some cusion in it. How did you adapt your transmission to the motor?

The mounts are chev small block street rod mounts. I just cut them down and made new tabs for the right side. They do have rubber cushioning, but your right it is not enough, but I will address that after I get it running better. I made the trans adaptor myself. I copied the Geo engine to trans plate in 1/2" plate attached it to the trans and welded it to the kubota end plate. The alignment was easy because the Geo transmission is a split case design and I was able to lay an alignment shaft in the naked trans case halfe and sight it up all the way into the pilot bearing in the flywheel, a no brainer. So I just ordered a 2" mandrel bend U pipe from the getting it store and will build a downpipe tomorrow and retest drive. The down pipe that I had made at the muffler shop was 1 3/4" and was bent with a pusher die so it was choked down some what in the down pipe bends. The tail pipe is 1 1/5 and Ill replace that with 2 1/4". The engine is the super mini series and they all are normally aspirated engines. The turbo comes from a 2 liter kubota engine and is an IHI RHF3 series and is the smallest in that series. IHI states that this turbo is for 20 to 100 HP engines and I'm in at the bottom but still in the window. So I'm going to try the bigger exhaust and see what happens

Mike, any updates? Would love to chat with you as I'm soon to start a similar build. D1402 is what I'm going to use. 1395cc. There's another guy out there with a Kubota d950 in a tracker. I guess we'll have three 'Bota Trackers when mine is done. As a vehicle I'm going a completely different direction with the tracker but you'll see. Hope to hear from you!

I have about 8000 miles on it so far. Its under powered for this area, would work perfect in a place where the land is mostly flat. I drive it for fun when i'm just kicking around and in no hurry and in good weather. top speed is 65 mph and that's on a steep downhill grade and I would guess the fuel is only at 15 % governor speed. On flat ground 62 mph is the maximum speed and I would guess 85% fuel as the boost pressure drops from max of 6 psi to about 2 when the governor trims back the fuel. the plastic radiator tank gave up in the fall and i'm currently in the process of building a new cooling module that will have an intercooler in it. I have an intercooler from a Isuzu npr I'm gonna use 25% for turbo intercooler and the balance for engine cooling by modifying the tanks for dual purpose. Bottom line is this , I know how to drive it as not to do any damage to the engine but its not gonna work for every one. It doesn't have enough power and must be constantly geared down to match the grades. Somethings Aren't for Everybody, but I like it a lot.

I just wanted to add, it gets 40 miles to the gallon just normal driving once I drove a couple of tanks out on the highway and it got just over 50 mpg @ 60 mph. mostly flat two lane south of athens Ga. down to Florida coast.

Nice little rig! I would definitely adjust the rack limit stop to give more fuel and like Kubotaman said, put a stiffer gov spring in. Then you will have the power you need, that thing can't weigh much. Nice MPG #'s. You should be seeing more boost #'s as well, maybe tighten the wastegate some, I see 20's + a lot.

The waste gate servo has been eliminated. It runs so much better on cool mornings and if it ran that well all the time, I would be completely satisfied for what I'm after. I am hoping that the intercooler will get me where I want to be. Its kind of like driving a 40 hp volkswagen beetle. You can rag on it but its best to chill and enjoy the ride.

about the weight, it has a full frame even the tops of the McPherson front struts are frame mounted. Its weight is deceiving I would guess about 2200 striped down like it is. no AC,carpet, back seats and just a bikini top.

I like your conversion. Are you still at stock fuel on the pump? What sort of EGT does it put down. you might have some oomph left in that engine. Have you tried any other turbochargers? I hate to say it, but I am on my 3rd turbo, small, smaller and smaller still, and I think I still might have a tiny bit too much turbo. I finally went overseas for my latest turbo, You might be able to look for something similar to this, or even smaller.

Mike great to hear back from you! I picked up a sidekick the other day, a 93 4 door 4wd. It's got an automatic which I'll be swapping for a manual but the frame is clean and for $200 with title I couldn't go wrong. Drove it on the trailer then 20 minutes back home. I already have the Kubota. So I have 4.62 gears. Body is completely coming off. I'm building a utv. Current plan is to run 29x10.50 super swamper sx's. They're a bit heavy but I'm not going for speed or economy. With estimated output after turbo of around 40hp and 80-ish lb/ft torque, it should get around well enough. I want to be able to drive on the road occasionally but if I can't get over 45 mph that's fine with me. Just be on back roads mostly. Which flywheel housing did your kubota have on it? Was it an SAE# housing? I have a v2203 that has an SAE flywheel housing that I am wanting to put into a tracker.
