putting a 12 valve and allison 545 in gas dodge

i have a 94 dodge ram 1500. with a good body but junk tranny. but i have a 1994 12 valve cummins motor complete. with a 545 allison transmission behind it. thats it. i can buy better axles if needed. im not hauling anything big or anything. not going to do any performance stuff until way later. what kind of transfer case with i need? what about motor mounts? what about the four wheel drive shifter. and the cross member. this tranny doesnt have one. or anything else ill have to worry about? i can also buy a dana 60 and 70 if needed. thanks!

Not trying to hijack, but that trans isn't for towing, or anything like that. They used it in Blue Bird Bus's and any other common buses. It's more of an in-town, and travel trans. But your choice. I'd recommend a NV4500 behind that Cummins with a South bend clutch. Assuming if you can drive stick. But also assuming your wanting to stay with that trans then you'll need Fly wheel, motor adapter and starter. Axles wise you'll need to swap them out as well with everything from the 2500 frame. Your better off just taking the cab of your truck and finding a true and clean rolling chassis 2500 series frame and bolting up your engine an body from there. Sounds like a lot of work. But it's possible to put a 12 valve in a 1500. My buddy has one in his. Call this guy he might have what you need. Larry Schmidt truck parts nice guy and reasonable prices too.

There's a few swaps with the 12v using stock axles- probably wont last long but if you need to buy some time during the swap you could pick up axles after you recoup some cash. I assume since you have a junk tranny, it's a 46rh lol. I would trade your 545 in for 47rh, the crossmember and linkage is super easy to swap over...

Good luck
Jake
