random parts questions fummins!!

so this is my first thread.. i have a 2000 ford f250 full four door long bed that HAD a 7.3 in it. the truck clinqued out just randomly stopped working.. the truck was auto but i bought a zf5 for it because the zf6 is just not worth it to me. and i also bought a 1997 cummins.

ive started the swap already.. the parts ive ordered and that have already came are the manifold, clutch/flexplate, motormounts and i sent my ford wiring harness out to diesel convertions a couple weeks ago but have yet to hear back from them...

my questions are what sould i do for a master/slave cylinder because the zf 5 and zf6 both use diffferent set ups for the slave cylinder so im not sure what i sould do to make the clutch all work.:s::scare2:

and also what sould i do for intercooler pipes?:dang:

and what can i use for a throttle cable? and as far as i understand im supposta use a ford GAS pedal not a diesel pedal? anyone on here done this swap before? and what sould i do for fuel lines? i have lines from the firewall to the tank but i had to just cut them with dikes to pull the motor i have a couple more questions i just cant remember off the top of my head, any input would help!:rocking::tu:

anybody? someone on here has had to come to these problems before:dang:

I know it's been done, but I don't like the thought of a ZF-5 behind a Cummins; I've destroyed two ZF-5's behind IDI's, so I don't have a lot of faith. The ZF-6 is higher torque rated, especially the later "HD" versions, iirc. And the 6 speed generally offers a much friendlier shifting spread for towing. To each his own...

Build them. If you aren't a welder, you can piece together intercooler boots and aluminum pipe pieces (try Air to Water Intercooler), but be sure to have beads rolled on the boot mating ends to prevent blowoffs. The Dodge pipes should get you close, but aren't an exact fit...also depending on which intercooler you end up using (I'd stick with the stock 7.3 intercooler for simplicity)

Yes, you'll likely need a gas-powered model throttle pedal to operate the P-pump linkage. The diesels had a "drive by wire" pedal, which won't work on a mechanical Cummins unless you develop a high torque "throttle body" actuator to work with the linkage and pedal.... Also, if I'm not mistaken, didn't the Super Dutys come with ZF-5s for a bit, or am I missing somehting? Seems like an off the shelf remedy could be had for putting the ZF-5 in your 2000...:humm:

Destroked - THE Cummins Conversion Company : Home Page can answer any other questions with the swap, I'm sure.
