So this is my second build on this site and this time I will take better pics. The purpose of the build is to have a daily driver expedition type vehicle that can still achieve respectable mpg.30-35 hwy. my last build with a 99 ranger ext cab 4x4 currently is getting 39 hwy and 32 city very consistently. The jeep is a 88 cherokee that currently has a good 4.0l i6 and a 5-speed trans and 4x4. The jeep has electrical issues preventing it to run properly.(mice) I paid 300 for the jeep. I will update as progress goes Attachment 35284Attachment 35285

That looks good, what's it made out of 1/4 steel? Nice clean tight look.

Thanks the trans adaptor is 1/4 and the flywheel adaptor is 1/2. What turbo are you running. I think fte had said something about a Saab turbo. I have a few turbos at the house. I was planning an using the kkk k03 from a 1999 passat 1.8t. Any thoughts

From what I understand a VW Turbo will work awesome. I originally bought one but it was variable geometry and from my research I couldn't find a good way to operate it on a mechanical injection motor. So as long as its not variable geometry you should be ok

I have a teo4h mits turbo on my ranger and I found a vnt25 that I was planning on ordering its all mechanically controlled. Incase you wanted a variable geometry turbo. I'm just curious what everyone else was running and the boost and egt they were seeing

FWIW, I'm running a GT1544 Garrett turbo. It was fitted to a 2.0L turbodiesel in Europe. I cannot recall the exact fitment. I got it at a really good price off eBay. The turbo calculator on Garrett's site recommended this turbo for my application (HP, diesel, rpm range), and also recommended the GT12 series. I grabbed the GT1544 because it is only oil cooled, whereas the GT12 is oil and water cooled.

EGT max is around 1000 degrees. This is with peak boost of 15 psi. Typical EGTs are around 500-700, but what has thrown me off is the fact the EGTs do not fall off much once I am off the boost. I think perhaps the EGT sensor is not fully in the exhaust stream.

Boost builds immediately with this turbo. If I had to do it over again, I might actually go with a larger turbo, but I have no real reason to suggest that is the way to go.

I'm using an ihi rhf4 off a cat skid steer. Website says its good for 130hp on a diesel. Mine whines good but doesn't build much boost until higher rpm, will get 1300 degrees if I push it hard enough. I have a small exhaust leak between my manifold and Turbo so I think that's why I have higher egts and why it takes awhile to build boost. I think it'll be perfect when I get that fixed. As it is, if I'm going 65 or so it usually runs 800 degrees or so.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. My ranger builds boost quick right off the line 5 psi almost instantly but you realy have to winde it up to see 10-12 psi. Egts are 500-600 driving and 850-950 wot on a hard pull it won't climb past 950 now was 1025 max before the inter cooler its a teo4h I think it's a little big but it works for now

I've been a member on here for just a couple months. This is actually my first post too... I've been waiting for this exact combination to happen as I'm totally into Jeeps. Definitely watching this one! Thanks for the play-by-play with the pictures! :pca1:
