1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 with yanmar

Hi everyone. New to this site but not not new to diesels.
This is my build. I have a 99 ford ranger that came with the 3.0l v6 and a 5 speed trans. It is 4x4 extended cab and 3.55 gears. My 3.0l was bad when i bought the truck so it was cheap (700.00) clean body and every thing else was good. I orig. wanted a 4bt but couldnt find a decent 1 for under 2500. i then looked into a mercedes om617 but i wasnt happy with the overall tunability here in the us ( i couldnt find anyone wiling to touch it.) I have driven fte ford ranger with the kubota v2203 and i loved it great power amazing fuel economy and it felt as though it came from the factory that way, not like most projects do. so i looked around for a kubota and found some at a shop for a good price. when i went to buy i was told the wouldnt sell me just 1 if i wanted 1 i had to buy them all. so i ended up with a few idi kubotas ( i was unaware of that at that time) and a few di yanmar 4tne86 . My goal was to sell the yanmars and use the kubota but after realizing i had a idi kubota i started to tinker with the yanmar. It is a di 2.1l with a injector pump very similar to the bosch vm pump. So i decided to give the yanmar a shot. I made my trans adaptor from 1/4 plate steel and the flywheel adaptor from 3 1/2 round stock. I had the flywheel adaptor machined to center in the yanmar flywheel and center the ford flywheel on the other end. The yanmar flywheel was turned town to only the ring gear for the starter ( i dropped 45lbs of cast iron). I turned the rack travel screw up in the injectorpump and replace the governor spring with a heavyer 1 i made. The factory manifold is nowhere near as nice as the kubota, its basicly a half log bolted to the head. I found a chrysler 2.2 manifold and turbo from a 89ish laser for 100 an craigslist. The ports mached and i had to drill and tap the head for the studs to mount it. The turbo is a mitsubish teo4h. The alternator / vacuum pump is from a isuzu npr its a 2 in 1 i bought off ebay brand new for 109.99 and it fits in my factory alternator brackets.I still need to mount my powersteering pump and install my intercooler .

I currently have over 3k miles on it and I'm getting very good milage 39 hwy 32 city and its fun to drive fte has driven it it its earlier stages. Egt are great 900 if I'm really pushing it 1050 at wot on a very hard pull I can't force it higher than that. 2-5 psi running down the road and 12 at full throttle accelerating.

This Thread Is Worthless Without Pictures!!! Sounds way cool, though. Not being a machinist myself, some of'em won't mean jack to me, but, quite a few of the other guys will be able to make sense of 'em.

hahahahaha..... your edit happened while I was bitching....

That's a good looking rig you got there, impressive mileage! The turbo sounds great at the exhaust! :tu:

Thanks I appreciate the input. I have it tore apart right now I will try to get some more pics and videos when it's back together. The oil pan wasn't sealing and it was rubbing the control arm bracket. I will also be installing the intercooler when it goes back together. It's not necessary but can't hurt.

@Rangmar Hello I got a Yanmar Diesel 3TNV80F, and from what I have learned about it, the bell housing and flywheel are the same as the Yanmar engine you used. I know you posted this over 10 years ago but I am trying to figure out Transmission options and hoped you might have some info and advice on adapter plates.
