24v to 12v

I currently have a 2001 2500 with a NV5600. I want to pull the 24v out and put a complete 12v engine in its place. Yes, I have thought about just p-pumping it but I want the whole 12v experience.

I have done a fair bit of searching so far (across all the forums) and pretty much all the threads I have found deal with either early 24v trucks, which seem to be easier to convert, or auto trans which brings in extra considerations that dont have work-arounds.

As far as the electronics are concerned, what all do I have to swap out or adapt to keep all my gauges, alternator, a/c and cruise control working? The cruise isnt a priority though.

Some people have said to just get a 98 12v PCM, engine harness and underhood harness and everything should be happy, BUT, they were dealing with 98.5 and 99 trucks which have different wiring and such than my 01 if I remember correctly.

I just want tot make sure I have a good battle plan in place before I start sourcing parts and spending $$.
