Kubota tractor powered aluminum Jeep

I have finally got it drivable...

I have a tiny, rare1960 aluminum military jeep. These lightweight 4x4s came original with a V4 gas engine that was junk. I sold the original engine and started the kubota engine swap.
The engine I used is the kubota V1505-Turbo...this is a 1.5ltr 4 cylinder indirect diesel. It has an industrial ratings of 46HP and 90 ft/lbs... @ 7psi boost stock.
The engine is all mechanical, boshe type inline mini pump, flow-thru head design...and are known to be SUPER reliable. This engine weights just 250 lbs.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Knowing I wanted more power, I went thru the engine first...I installed new pistons, rings, and berrings. More importantly, I added two oil squirters/coolers under each piston. To do this I had the rods drilled wither 2 tiny holes, and the rod berrings machined with a U-groove and holes corisponding to the one in the rods. This way the holes have constant oil preasure and the squirters are constantly spraying oil.

I then removed the rack-stop-screw and the throttle-stop-screw and turned in the torque screw one turn. Lastly, I installed an extra spring on the waistgate, makeing it require more boost to open.

Now the little engine has a lot more power. Sounds like a mini cummins. Makes about 15lbs now...torque feels doubled, and if I'm not careful it will slip the clutch in 4th gear.

Because of the light weight (1700lbs) and small engine size this little truck gets over 40mpg.:jump:

Welcome to the Kubota Club MightyMite!! There are a few of on here playing with the Kubota's, they are great little engines. Think you could put up some pictures of your rig, I'm sure the folks around here would like to see it!

Thanks

Hey Guys : Just bought the first diesel truck last fall and its my daily driver/tow vehicle. I also own and use a small Clarke/Kabota Farmall skid steer and KH64 mini-excavator which I have owned for the past 20 plus years. Only just started playing with the truck , didn't realize the heavy equipment could be tweeked. What are your thought, 3/4 MPH on the excavator with a little fine tuning? Seriously though, nice to see so many people have fun with diesels and still driven' them. Best of regards - Mark

Just in the learnin' stage. Unsure why there callin' them videos. However, the 5th wheel trailer was attached when i flew to pic up the truck in BC. I then drove it home across Canada to Ontario. Good pulling truck, it'll do me well for a long time. Mark
