Ok update... I changed the lift pump. And finally got her to start after bleeding it. Ran fine idled fine for 10+ minutes. Killed it and went to restart 3 minutes later and very very hard start. Got it going finally ran to town got some diesel kleen but didn't turn the truck off at parts store. Got home got ready for work and couldn't get it restarted. Got some codes to show now. 0460 0463 1693. Googled it and maybe cps sensor?

replace injector pump bud. the bad lift pump took it out. seen it happen hundreds of times. its the vps biggest downfall is the dependability of the vp44. theres some guys that have changed them 4 or more times on there daily drivers and not be because of the lift pump.

Vp pump even if it runs drives and idles fine?

If its the Vp my 94 is going to make the ultimate sacrifice... and donate the p-pump

What woulsf be the cause reason extra of that?

by the way im not in disagreance with anyone just trying to learn anything from anyone willing to share info.

and i would like to exhaust all other possible options before replacing the pump.

called the stealership and of course "it was sold without warranty." even tho i had trouble less than 24hrs and 40 miles later. maybe i will buy a billboard and badmouth them... its not slander if its true.

thanks

cooled off for 4 hrs. had the wife try and start with me on the phone. no start... had her pull the filter off and see what it looked like and...

so maybe all i will have to do is drain and waste 30+ gallons of fuel, drop the tank, clean and flush the tank, flush ALLLLLL the lines, take the new lift pump back off and clean the screen in it, replace the filter, refill the tank and pray that i dont need a new vp... ya right. but ill start tomorrow. my wifes is going to go get a 55 gallon drum in the morning and clean it and maybe i can find a way to filter it enought to salvage it.

ive seen it 10 times at least personally where the truck runs fine, idles fine, just wont start when truck is warm. and 4 hours may have not been long enough to cool pump off enough. if u have let it sit over night, try starting it today. its called heat soak. the electronics get hot and quit working

Hard starts when hot/warm is a classic symptom of a cracked diaphragm in the VP44, hope that's not the issue though.

Over night and still notta. I'm getting pretty ticked off. I wish i had a way to haul this thing to a shop
