Any suggestions much appreciated
Hey everybody, I have a friend with a 2005 Ford E-450 box truck im trying to help out, I am a commercial vehicle mechanic and decent experience. It has the 6.0 diesel. The issue is a no-start, I changed fuel filters couple months ago, oil and filter too. It will never start unless its plugged in (im thinkin glow plugs on that). But now it wont start at all, and seems like no fuel at first. It needed batteries, so they are new. Has plenty of fuel in tank, system is primed, when cranking after a few attempts it will kick over as if wanting to start but will not stay running. When this occurs it has smoke coming out exhaust telling me getting some fuel at least. The oil level is fine, fuses are ok, no significant oil leaks. I have the block heater plugged in to assist starting, the vehicle has approx 120,000 miles on it, auto trans, and like i said new fuel filters (motocraft) and new air filter. Any help please?

It would be a shame if it caught fire,or got stolen :w2:

do you have access to a scanner to check ICP pressure to desired pressure? it could have a hi pressure oil leak which will cause a no start as well

Had a e350 6.0 in the shop with a similar problem. Having something like ford IDS would help you immencly. Turned out to have a major hpo leak-icp value of just 200psi cranking!

a snap on solus or a modis or ehtos would also work. need to look at the live data and see the number. if its not building atleast 500 then you have a leak.

Thanks, yeah thats the path im working on but limited on the diagnostic equipment. Thanks for the tip!
