Trans Slipping During Second Gear Shift

Hello All :-)

A few quick questions if you all dont mind!

I have a 98 6.5 Turbo D with the 4L80E, opt MT1 Tranny.

It Slips trying to shift into second gear if i stay on the accelerator, if i let off it shifts in and i can get on it with no slipping through the rest of the gears? Fluid is normal pink with no debris or bad smells. (If i stay on the accelerator it slams in gear)

Shift Solonoid going out i thought?

If so are they internal, and if so does it require pulling the trans or VB?

If not possible causes?

Also is this an Allison? 4L80E, opt MT1 (was told it was when i bought it but the kid didnt seem to savvy)

Also as being a new proud diesel owner, I have to ask, I bought the truck as a non runner with the PMD out for $1500 the body is in good shape with minimal rust and a fair paint job, sound like a bad buy? (Wife don't think so, i thought it was good even if it needs a $800 Junk Yard Tranny.)

p.s. Ive been wrenching on my own GAS cars for years now and i have a Matco obd computer but im not throwing a single code. i do have access to sensor readouts on it if can get any info that may help!

Thanks,

Don

Also after reading a few posts here id like to add, yes the fluid is full, yes im checking it in neutral ect.
