gas in my diesel

I just realized yesterday i put about 5 gallons of diesel that had been mixed with gasoline in my truck, the gas station owner told me his distributor came out the next day and pumped his bulk tank clean and took the fuel off to test it, i met with the fuel distributor today and he gave me 100 bucks towards flushing and refilling my tank, but im wondering what the effect of gasoline on the ip would be, i dont know the ratio of gas to diesel in the mix, but it was enough that you could distinctly smell it. I immediately added a quart of 15w40 and 10 gallons of pure #2 to dilute it and add some lubricity to it. It is a 12 valve with the bosch ve pump.

this is a touchy subject. if it was me i would put some more oil in.

well the plan is to drain the tank and refill it tomorrow, im just wondering if the little bit that i ran it would have and major damaging effects , again it wasnt pure gasoline that got put in there, but a nasty mix that was more diesel than gas, still not very goo though.

chances are your good.

if it was enough to cause a problem you would know right away!

drain it, refill, and roll with it

well i went by cummins today and asked the oldest dude there because the old guys are the only ones who ever remember working on any vehicle i have ever owned, :) and he said if i didnt have any problems with it which i didnt, to dump a bunch of atf in it and top it off with #2, so i added 3 quarts of atf and put a newer style filter on it cause i wanted to get rid of the seperate drain thing anyway, its running like a hoss now. Before anybody says, i know atf is red, my wife works for the comptroller so if i get pulled over i will get a note from susan combs saying its kosher fuel.:tu:

Why add ATF:argh: It's not designed to burn:nope: I would've filled up with diesel & 2 stroke oil. Now if your truck would've been newer with a DPF:scare2: I would've drain it on the spot

ATF burns like crazy, there are people that run a high % of it with diesel, used atf that is filtered is a great fuel and one of the best lubricants there is, look at the high presure it puts up with in the trans, we used to dump some in old gassers to freel sticky valve or lifters, I bet it would even help the 6.0 stiction issues but I'm not gonna be the first to try it.:w2:

Throw in some ATF Fluid works good for lube. I only put in like half a quart. If your truck runnin hard then You may wanna flush it.

Any how atf doesnt sink like 15w 40 in oil, the big rigs do it out here since the gov took most of the sulfur outta diesel. Your ok man Ive done it, it aint gonna hurt nothin.

cumminsf150 01-18-2012 07:00 PM

well i put atf in because thats what cummins told me to do, and because i figure if you can run a truck on 100 percent atf, 3 quarts wouldnt hurt. I dont think they designed veggie oil to burn either but it does, well actually they designed diesel engines to run on it .
