98.5 cummins

first off i am a first timer, i am also having a problem, (which is what brought me here) i have a few cummins but this 98.5 is giving me an issue. i am sure it is a common problem as i have read several posts that are very similiar. I purchased this truck about six years ago, with a bad injector pump. i purchased a vp-44 pump installed it and it ran superb till recently. at the time it had 113k, it now has 189k.
while driving it looses power, dead pedal and then poof power is back, funny part is no codes or warnings of any type. no misses, sputters or anything just loss of power.
when fuel tank is full it does not appear to happen as much. or i just dont notice it as much. everything i have read has pointed to the injection pump. i cannot accept it, it runs so good other than once in awhile power loss, in my reasoning if something is bad it stops working . any help is appreciated. i do hope it is a fuel pump, and not a injector pump.
i have no fuel gauge (pressure) no extra anything except for solid 4" stacks and it is a 5spd

thanks in advance

Well I say IP and LP are shot. I would start with an LP like airdog or fass, DO NOT GET ANOTHER STOCK ONE!!!! Then get a FP gauge so you can monitor FP at all times this is the only way to keep an IP.

I agree with dodgethis. You definately need to invest in a fuel pressure gauge. If you need any assistance if determining which FASS pump you need for your application, just let me know.
